If the parentheses are omitted, according to the order of operations the exponent will be evaluated first, then the opposite taken after the square power. The result is a negative number as you can see.

The cube power function is in the MATH submenu of the MATH menu. Let's evaluate (-21.5+4)^3 to see how it is used. Remember to use parentheses around the expression.
