ARITHMETIC Exponents (Page 1 of 6)

There are a number of keys that are used to evaluate exponents; three specific keys and a general key. We will introduce the specific keys first. Also, parentheses must be used whenever a negative number or an expression is raised to an exponent.

Let's begin with the square power and evaluate (-21.5)^2.

 CLEAR key.

 Left parenthesis key. Negation key. 21.5 Right parenthesis key. x-squared key. ENTER key.
