SEQUENCES Evaluating A Sequence (Page 5 of 11)

Let's find the first five terms of the sequence a(subscript n) = (1/2)n(n+1) using this mode. Begin by defining the sequence in the sequence editor (different than the function editor). Press Y= key. to access the sequence editor. Make sure nMin is set to 1 (the default value), then enter the rule for the sequence on the next line. The TI-83/84 name of the sequence will be u. Notice that in this mode the X,T,theta,n key. key will type an n instead of an x.

For a non-recursive sequence (each term depends on n only) you can ignore the u(nMin) setting.
