The coefficients of a binomial expansion can be easily computed on the TI-83 and TI-84 using the nCr command located in the MATH PRB submenu. For example, let's find the coefficient of the fourth term in the expansion of  .
The variable n is the exponent on the binomial, and the value
of r is always one less than the term number. So, we must use
n = 7 and r = 3. Enter the value of n first,
then the command, followed by the value of r.
The coefficient is 35. |
