INEQUALITIES (2 VARIABLES) Graphing A Solution Set (Page 3 of 4)

Now we will graph the solution set for the inequality 2x^2-y > 3. First solve for y: y < 2x^2-3. Then obtain the boundary equation by replacing the inequality symbol with an equality: y = 2x^2-3. We will graph this boundary curve as function Y1, and use a graphing style to shade the solution set to the inequality.

We used the style shown because the solution set is all ordered pairs having a y-value below the boundary curve (you need to determine this yourself). Notice how the style icon is a lower shaded triangle.
