FUNCTIONS Piecewise Defined Functions (Page 1 of 4)

One important piecewise-defined function is the greatest integer function, f(x) = greatest integer function of x. On the TI-83 and TI-84, this function is called "int" and is located in the MATH NUM submenu.

Let's graph this function. Begin by defining Y1. Because the graph of this function is discontinuous (there are breaks in the graph), use the DOT style for graphing. The style is selected in the function editor to the left of the Y1 symbol. Move the cursor to this location and press ENTER repeatedly until the icon is three dots.
