ARITHMETIC Fractions (Page 3 of 3)

The main purpose of the Frac command is to display results in fraction form whenever a numerical computation is involved. Let's evaluate the expression -(4/5)(1/9-3/26) and display the result as a fraction.

 CLEAR key.

 Negation key. 4 Divide key. 5 Left parenthesis key. 1 Divide key. 9 Minus key. 3 Divide key. 26 Right parenthesis key.
 MATH key. 1: menu selection. ENTER key.

Additional parentheses can be placed around the first fraction, but are not necessary because of the order of operations. Also, to enter a negative fraction, simply enter the numerator as a negative number using the gray negation key.

There are many situations where the Frac command may be desirable, such as when evaluating a function or finding an inverse matrix.
