To find the intersection points of these two graphs, use the CALC intersect command. This command will ask three questions. You must select two graphs (there are only two in this example) and then enter a guess. The guess can be any x-value that is close to the x-coordinate of the intersection point.

Let's find the left intersection point first. We will use a guess of -4.

 2nd CALC key. 5: menu selection.
 ENTER key. (Mark the first graph)
 ENTER key. (Mark the second graph)
 Negation key. 4 ENTER key.

The left intersection point is (-4.5, 8). The x-coordinate of this point is a solution to the equation.
